Beware!

Her Work Is Done

As soon as I finish getting ready for work and she hears me get my keys, she knows she is off duty and can retire to her favorite room, the walk in closet.  She uses several interesting steps to get to the highest shelf where she settles in for a long morning nap after all her labors supervising my morning.  Oh, and she prefers the light off, thank you.

Katrina in the Morning

Katrina and I live alone.  At least we have for the last several months.  I bore her. She entertains me.  She also supervises my activities.  She inspects the tub before my shower and she gets in the tub after my shower and chases droplets that may still escape from the shower head.  This is one of her more important duties during the morning.

Meet Katrina

This is my cat Katrina.  She is six years old and definitely the quirkiest cat I have ever had.  She comes up with the strangest ways to spend her time.  She's also a bit challenged when it comes to reality.  You will see what I mean as you get to know her.  This picture was taken right after I told her "no."  Notice how impressed she is with my authority.  There's a definite "whatever" air in her expression.  This blog is dedicated to Katrina and all the cats that make our lives a little bit more interesting and definitely a lot hairier.  I've always said, "Dogs have owners, cats have staff."

NOT. AMUSED.

Beware of the Dog

Introducing Katrina's Blog

My mother used to talk for our animals.  She would put words in their mouths and try to express what she thought the animal was thinking.  I've always done this with my pets as well.  My daughters inherited the practice and it can be hilarious hearing what we all think the cat or dog might be thinking.

Since moving into my own apartment, I have had a chance to really get to know my cat.  When there are three women, two children and three cats living in the same three bedroom dwelling, there just isn't time to know yourself, let alone one animal.  But now days Katrina, my six year old tuxedo, has my attention.  She is the quirkiest cat I have ever had.  She keeps me in stitches laughing at the bizarre things she comes up with.  And of course I talk for her.

So I thought I would start a blog about cats in general and Katrina in particular.  In reality, she always wears an expression that clearly indicates that the lights are on, but no one is really home.  Her little brain thinks the proper response to an itch is to run away.  She sits on my headboard and stares into a picture frame on the wall and apparently thinks it's a window because she can see the reflection of the window in the glass.  She even occasionally tried to "get into" this window on the wall.  Yes, it's pretty amusing living with Katrina and I thought I would try to share some of the joy of watching her be herself.

I'm also going to share some of the funny cat pictures and jokes I find along the way.
